In USA not only the companies are on hiring freeze, but they are also laying people off. It's a bloodbath here. People who are authorized to work (Citizens and Green Card holders) are having an extremely difficult time getting past Resume stage, let alone getting an interview or even being hired. You are going to compete with people that have been laid off from Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta etc.
I'm sorry for the bad news, but it is what it is.
Can confirm, i am one of those "Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta etc" with 8 years experience and 5 of those being from the above. While i am getting initial tech interviews, i seem to not be good enough even when i solve their problem in the most optimal time complexity. Not sure who they're looking for, Jesus? I'm also a citizen so all i can say is that the situation is crazy right now. Guess i need to keep working on leetcode until something turns up.
