I worked in Facebook HQ for 2+ years. IC6 means "individual contributor". It's a very generic term — for both engineering and non-engineering ladders (design and etc.). E6 — engineering IC6, aka "staff enggneer". Mangers have separate track and roughly M1 ~ E6. You expected to contribute to the design of the system the team is working on, find projects for yourself and the team, be visible cross team and negotiate with others. In Facebook, you measured my "impact". Successful people define metrics of impact themselves and in a way the by the end of a half you met/exceeded the goal. It's a very good level, not every engineer gets to this: < 15% of engineers are E6+. But, lots of time hired people can't keep up and fired/put on pip. FB has bootcamp, this is total BS, try to get assigned to the team you like before.
