Our takeaway: Our findings suggest that developers frequently face constraints at work that
prevent them from finding uninterrupted time to code.

Emerging economies code more than median

Among the world’s largest advanced economies, known collectively as the G7, developers in Italy, France, and Japan spend the most time per day actively coding.
In an analysis of ten countries categorized as emerging markets by the International Monetary Fund (IMF),
we found that developers in Thailand, Turkey, and Brazil spend the most time coding.

We limited our analysis to countries with at least 100 active users and classified countries
according to data from the IMF’s World Economic Outlook.

Interestingly, developers in the top emerging markets code more than the global median,
which may indicate that software engineering is rapidly increasing in popularity in those countries.

Больше похоже на маркетинговую завлекуху. Никаких данных ни о сроках исследования, ни о выборках, ни о возрасте, ничего. Нет ссылок на опрос. При этом говорится о 250K+ участников. Типа, их коммьюнити. Ну хз-хз. Да еще и компания продает как раз инструменты для повышения эффективности.

Штош наверное какие-то менеджеры испугаются и полезут в карман за кредиткой.

In this report, data is analyzed from our Code Time plugin for popular code editors, such as Visual Studio Code and IntelliJ. Data is analyzed for 250K+ developers across the world from July 1, 2021 to October 1, 2021. Over 201 countries with ISO-3166 codes are represented in the dataset.

52 минуты в день АКТИВНОГО ПИСАНИЯ и РЕДАКТИРОВАНИЯ кода?

Это в принципе нормально (или даже неслабо), учитывая что бóльшую часть времени происходит изучение материалов и документации, продумывание реализации/архитектуры, обсуждение рабочих вопросов с коллегами, митинги, отчётность, двигание тасочек в джире и отписывание ответов и статусов там, и различные другие активности...

А в совокупности с этим:

Начинает выглядить как-то бредово. Значит 52 минуты я тарабаню по клавишам, генерируя и редактирую код, а другую 41 минуту я читаю код, делаю код ревью и браузю (что тут имелось в виду?..) документацию.

В общем, полагаю, они правильно замерили именно активное редактирование и писание кода (установив какой-то плагин для метрик, возможно), но потом пытаются на основе этого натянуть вывод, что программисты МАЛА РАБОТАТЬ. Хотя 52 минуты чистого кодописания пальцами — это вполне норм, и может ещё и много (в зависимости от сферы).
