Do you want to be a part of the team working towards positioning Microsoft as the market leader in Local Search? Are you excited about transforming Bing into the destination of choice for users trying to find information about local businesses or other local entities across multiple international markets and multiple search entry points and devices?
Enabling Local Search at scale represents momentous challenge. Very often one has to resort to using large scale machine learning algorithms to normalize, de-duplicate, classify and ingest the enormous quantity of local entity data into local index and to match it to user queries in real time.
Local Search Team within Moscow based Microsoft Development Center Russia has multiple openings for Software Engineers, corresponding to different levels of experience and diverse skill sets, ranging from traditional distributed computing to deep and hands-on expertise in large scale machine learning. The positions we are trying to fill have a potential to evolve into successful international careers.
This is a highly challenging and rewarding environment and the software engineers we are looking for should ideally have the following qualities:
• Capable of designing and implementing scalable production quality automated solutions to process huge amounts of data at scheduled intervals
• Good balance between theoretical and pragmatic execution capabilities, and the ability to understand implementation complexity and estimate development costs
• Ability to work independently and/or collaborate with Microsoft Research in the areas of Data Mining and Machine Learning
The ideal candidate will have:
• At least BSc in CS, EE, Applied Math or equivalent degree. Graduate degree is a big plus.
• In depth knowledge of C# or C++, ideally acquired through on-the-job experience or very strong academic credentials in these areas
• Strong technical skills and problem solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment where smart decisions and trade-offs need to be made
• Prior experience and/or strong educational background in Machine Learning or Data Mining is a huge plus

Допустим, что они имеют в виду не только данные о бизнесе,
но и данные по товарам (продуктам и услугам).
Но эта задача уже решена яндексом, даже стандарт на рынке ввели.
Где Microsoft был 15 лет назад?

Это ж Microsoft. На бумаге тут будет "enormous quantity of local entity data", а на деле вы будете заниматься потрясающим воображение фиксингом протухших 5 лет назад багов, увлекательной политической игрой "угадай фаворита следующего реорга и раньше всех присягни ему в верности" и захватывающим ожиданием пенсионного возраста. Правда, за деньги и плюшки, которые вам не предложит ни одна компания, где надо реально работать. На любителя, короче.
