Well-known Western energy company opens a position of Senior Java/.Net Developer to work at it’s office in the UK

The Global Market Data team manages & develops market data systems to provide the different trading desks within front office, structuring and risk controlling with relevant market data.
• It manages a framework of systems including web services, Oracle databases and front end web / client applications, based on Microsoft and Java technology.
• It’s a fast paced team — must be able to work with dynamic requirements in a changing environment.
• It has strong interactions with Trader Desks, Analyst Desks, Structuring and Risk Controlling.
• It needs good understanding of the pan-european energy markets.
• It supports teams that build their analysis and decision support solutions on the market data in both Microsoft and Java technology – must be able to work with both technologies.
• It needs the ability to analyse situations quickly to provide both tactical and strategic solutions.



Responsibilities:
• Have a commitment to customer service in both a development and support environment.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Have experience in project work.
• Investigation of user requirements and where appropriate progression of these requirements through the project development life cycle using a formal methodology.
• Experience in application testing and the change control process.
• Have the ability to work to defined standards/methods and with different IT and user teams and be capable of operating effectively within a high-pressure environment.
• Applies attention to detail and demonstrates the tenacity to stick to a given task.
• Be self-motivating and able to work to priorities under pressure and flexibly as a member of a team, as well as being able to use their initiative and work alone.

Skills / Knowledge Required:

— Extensive application development skills using Microsoft VB, .Net technologies, Java and Oracle database are essential.
— Development/enhancements of VB, Java, C#.net thick client and server applications.
— Advanced Microsoft Excel / Access.
— Design/Developing/Consuming webservices / middle tier components.
— RDBMS Oracle design & development.
— JBoss Workflow Engine administration and development.
— JBoss Application Sever administration.
— ETL experience.

Language Skills:

Candidate must be able to communicate in English fluently, both on technical and conversational level.
